Last weekend, while cleaning the , I found my father's old radio. It has been sitting in a box for more than twenty years, untouched since he passed away. As soon as I saw it, memories from my childhood came rushing back.

My father used to listen to that radio every evening after work. He would sit in his favorite chair, close his eyes, and listen to old Turkish songs for hours. If dinner was ready, my mother had to call him three times before he would come to the table.

The radio has a case and two large that make a satisfying click when you turn them. I remember how my father used to let me choose the station sometimes, even though I usually picked something too loud for his taste. He never , though.

When I plugged the radio in yesterday, nothing happened at first, and I thought it had finally broken forever. However, after checking the wires carefully, I noticed a loose near the back. I fixed it with some tape, and suddenly, quiet filled the room.

I turned the dial slowly, searching for a station, and my hands were shaking a little. If this radio still works after all these years, I thought, it will feel like my father is somehow still here with me. Finally, I found an old radio station playing classic songs.

The sound wasn't perfect, but it was enough. I sat in my father's old chair, just like he used to, and closed my eyes. For a few minutes, I could almost hear his voice along to the music, the way he always did.

I have decided to keep the radio in the living room from now on. My children have never heard it before, so this weekend, I will show them how it works and tell them stories about their . Some things, I believe, are worth passing down.

My father used to say that music connects in ways that words cannot. Now that I have my own children, I finally understand what he meant. If I take good care of this radio, it will probably still work when my grandchildren are born.
