A Rainy Monday

Last Monday morning, it was raining very heavily in Istanbul. Emre was getting ready for work when he heard the rain hitting his window loudly. He knew it was going to be a difficult day.

Geçen Pazartesi sabahı İstanbul'da çok şiddetli yağmur yağıyordu. Emre işe hazırlanırken yağmurun penceresine yüksek sesle çarptığını duydu. Zor bir gün olacağını biliyordu.

He couldn't find his umbrella anywhere in the house. He was going to be late if he didn't leave soon, so he decided to use an old raincoat instead.

Şemsiyesini evde hiçbir yerde bulamadı. Yakında çıkmazsa geç kalacaktı, bu yüzden onun yerine eski bir yağmurluk kullanmaya karar verdi.

While Emre was walking to the bus stop, the wind was blowing strongly. Cars were driving slowly because the streets were flooded in some places. Everyone was hurrying under their umbrellas.

Emre otobüs durağına yürürken rüzgar şiddetli esiyordu. Sokaklar bazı yerlerde su altında kaldığı için arabalar yavaş sürüyordu. Herkes şemsiyelerinin altında acele ediyordu.

The bus finally arrived, but it was already full of wet passengers. Emre squeezed in and held onto a handle. Water was dripping from everyone's clothes onto the floor.

Otobüs sonunda geldi ama zaten ıslak yolcularla doluydu. Emre içeri sıkıştı ve bir tutamaca tutundu. Herkesin kıyafetlerinden yere su damlıyordu.

Suddenly, the bus stopped because of heavy traffic. The driver announced that there was an accident ahead. Emre realized he was going to be very late for his meeting.

Aniden otobüs yoğun trafik yüzünden durdu. Şoför ilerde bir kaza olduğunu duyurdu. Emre toplantısına çok geç kalacağını fark etti.

He called his manager and explained the situation honestly. "The weather is terrible today," he said. His manager understood and told him not to worry. "Just come when you can," she said kindly.

Müdürünü aradı ve durumu dürüstçe açıkladı. "Bugün hava berbat," dedi. Müdürü anladı ve endişelenmemesini söyledi. "Gelebildiğinde gel," dedi nazikçe.

Finally, after forty-five minutes, Emre arrived at the office completely wet. His colleagues laughed kindly and gave him a towel. He laughed, too, and said it was the worst commute of his life.

Sonunda kırk beş dakika sonra Emre ofise tamamen ıslak bir şekilde vardı. Meslektaşları nazikçe güldü ve ona bir havlu verdi. O da güldü ve bunun hayatının en kötü yolculuğu olduğunu söyledi.

That evening, Emre bought a new umbrella and put it near the door. "I am going to be ready next time," he said to himself, smiling about the funny morning.

O akşam Emre yeni bir şemsiye aldı ve kapının yanına koydu. "Bir dahaki sefere hazır olacağım," dedi kendi kendine, komik sabaha gülümseyerek.
